etchedbright festival promo pictureI’m an emerging musical and visual artist and create works that explore ancestry and bloodlines. My practice draws from my Welsh Caribbean heritage, experiments freely with genre and abstraction and is inspired by graffiti, vernacular art and archaic cultures.  As a child my awareness was shaped by the vibrant music and art materialising across the city. I absorbed too the history and mythos of the indigenous cultures of South Africa, learning from my family who lived there.  Later I trained as a violinist before being drawn to music for moving image and the avant-garde. The experience of living alongside the indigenous peoples of Western Canada alloyed my interest to outsider expressions and a ‘punk’ direct-action aesthetic, and continues to charge my work with a raw and primal materiality.
