Almamy festival promo picture Oumar Almamy Camara. is a master dancer and drummer from Guinea, West Africa. In order to be a true master of Guinean dance, the dancer needs know the rhythms and be able to play them.  Now resident in Bristol, Almamy has an impressive CV as a choreographer and percussionist in West Africa.

In the UK Almamy established the music and dance festival Mandenkan Bora in Bournemouth.

 

Almamy delivered dance workshops in both Bethesda (Friday 2nd June) and Cardiff (Saturday 10th June) as part of the Dathliad Cymru-Affrica 2023 festival.  Almamy is also a regular as a djembe player with The Successors of the Mandingue All Stars.  Almamy was a key participant in a The Successors of the Mandingue international dance collaboration project online during lockdown, bringing together both traditional West African and contemporary dance artists from Guinea, Wales, and Canada to create a fusion piece via Zoom (see Mandingue Horizons below).
