Successors at Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival

On Saturday July 2nd 2022 The Successors of the Mandingue brought the sunshine and an authentic West African music and dance experience that spread an irresistible joy at Cardiff’s International Food and Drink Festival.  Traditional rhythms played by djembe and doundoun drumming masters were the heartbeats for melodies played on the sacred and magical instruments of kora and balafon, and brought to life by explosive dance moves straight from Guinea, Conakry.  See highlights of the performances at the bandstand in the Oval Basin, Roald Dahl Plass, Cardiff Bay, at 2pm and again at 7pm in the film below.

Featuring the following artists:

N’famady Kouyaté – balafon, vocals & djembe

Mamadou Keita – doundoun & djembe

Suntou Susso – kora, djembe & vocals

Salif Camara – dance & vocals

Enjoy!
