Originally from Boké in Guinea, West Africa, Mamadou Keita moved to Conakry (the capital of guinea), and from there travelled to The Gambia finally ending up in the UK. A professional musician for over 25 years, Mamadou has been resident in the UK for around 15 years now. Mamadou is a percussionist, specialising in doundoun but also plays djembe, kenkeni, sangban. Mamadou teaches a weekly beginners class in Bristol teaching rhythms like Kuku, Liberté, Tiriba, and Djole.
