Join us for a two-week adventure of cultural discovery through the awe inspiring West African country of Guinea.
28th December 2023 – 11th of January 2024
(YouTube subtitles available)
The Successors of the Mandingue and our Artistic Director N’famady Kouyaté invite you to N’famady’s homeland of Guinea for a journey of discovery in the heart of West Africa. Guinea – an amazing place for a genuine and authentic immersive cultural experience of music, dance, and West African culture.
You will have the opportunity to participate in dance and percussion workshops with the best local musicians and dancers, see the hottest talent in action, and spend time with traditional artists (including the Kouyaté griot family) sharing songs, stories, language, and laughs.
We will first arrive in the crazy lively capital city of Conakry, which is bursting with djembe and musical energy. The streets are alive with drumming, with performances throughout the city. We will visit artist troupes, doundounba, African ‘ballet’, and see the new year in with African energy.
The trip package includes airport transfers, all accommodation, travel within Guinea both on land and sea, three meals a day (veggie/vegan options available), plus workshops and activities.
Travellers are responsible for booking their own flights, travel insurance, and visas. We are however able to provide advice on all of these, plus general hints & tips on travel to Guinea. As a guide flights are currently around £650 (the most direct carriers are Air France and Royal Air Maroc operating from London).
