Mis Awst/Medi yma – mae’r Troupe Djeliguinet anhygoel yn dod i Gymru a bydd yn perfformio ac yn cyflwyno gweithdai dros gyfnod o chwe wythnos fel rhan o’n prosiect partneriaeth Dathliad Cymru-Affrica. Mae’r dyddiadau sydd wedi’u cadarnhau hyd yn hyn yn cynnwys:

Fatoumata Kouyaté (sy’n cael ei adnabod yn rhyngwladol fel yr artist Djeliguinet) sy’n arwain y grŵp Troupe Djeliguinet. Mae Djeliguinet yn gantores a chyfansoddwr enwog o Gini, ac mae wedi syfrdanu gwyliau ledled Affrica a ledled y byd. Mae ‘Djeliguinet’ yn golygu griot-wraig yn ieithoedd Susu a Malinké yng Ngorllewin Affrica. Mae Fatoumata Djeliguinet yn fenyw sy’n gorlifo ag egni a sgil mewn offerynnau traddodiadol fel y balafon, djembe, kora, krin, a bolon.
Yn ifanc iawn dysgodd ei chrefft ar ochr ei thad (Ousmane Kouyaté, meistr balafon), a thyfodd i fyny wedi ymgolli mewn traddodiad cerddorol hynafol gan ffurfio ei hamlochredd cerddorol heb ei ail a’i dyfeisgarwch artistig ei hun. Yn ei thro, mae hi wedi trosglwyddo’r etifeddiaeth werthfawr hon i’w wyth o blant (pum merch a thri mab), ac mae hi’n rhannu’r llwyfan â nhw a’i hangerdd am offerynnau traddodiadol. Mae penderfyniad a thalent Djeliguinet wedi ei gweld hi’n esgyn i fod yn artist uchel ei pharch yn y sîn gerddoriaeth yng Ngorllewin Affrica sy’n cael ei dominyddu gan ddynion, gan dorri rhwystrau a chwalu ystrydebau, gan baratoi’r ffordd ar gyfer ei grŵp anhygoel deuluol Djeliguinet et ses Enfants (Djeliguinet a’i phlant) sy’n cynnwys ei chwaer a phedair o’i merched.

This August/September – the amazing Troupe Djeliguinet is coming to Wales and will be performing and delivering workshops during a six week period as part of our partnership project Dathliad Cymru-Affrica. Confirmed dates so far include:

Fatoumata Kouyaté (known internationally as the artist Djeliguinet) leads the group Troupe Djeliguinet. Djeliguinet is a renowned Guinean singer-songwriter, and has wowed festivals all over Africa and around the world. ‘Djeliguinet’ means griot-woman in the Susu and Malinké languages of West Africa. Fatoumata Djeliguinet is a woman overflowing with energy and skill in traditional instruments such as the balafon, djembe, kora, krin, and bolon.
At a very young age she learned her craft at her father’s (Ousmane Kouyaté, balafon master) side, and grew up immersed in ancient musical tradition forming her own unparalleled musical versatility and artistic ingenuity. In turn she has passed this most precious heritage to her eight children (five daughters and three sons), with whom she shares the stage and her passion for traditional instruments. Djeliguinet’s determination and talent has seen her ascend to be a respected artist in the male dominated music scene of West Africa, breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes, paving the way for her all-woman family super-group Djeliguinet et ses Enfants (Djeliguinet and her children) featuring her sister and four of her daughters.
